Matthew Dowling

Starting out as an independent film maker and on-set photographer, Dowling quickly learnt the principles of light and movement within a studio space. This intrigue led to individual photoshoots and experimental techniques that are now a trademark of his style. Moving to Italy for a year, he worked under Giovanni Minuto in Milan, where he honed his craft. Following this experience, Dowling went on to ply his trade in New York and London. Setting up his own studio in 2001, he began to work with models, stylists, make-up artists, agencies and clients on a daily bases.

Seeing the majority of modeling jobs go to small percentages of models, Dowling compiled an accomplished tutorial that covers all necessary information one needs to achieve success as a professional model. Dowling has shot for some of the world’s best known models and labels. He has exhibited his work in Europe with great success and continues to create meaningful and prolific imagery for a wide client base.

His unique lecture takes a practical business approach to such matters as model-client relationships, professional and social networking and pre-casting preparation.

Contributions from professional models, business consultants, head bookers, recruitments agencies and others add invaluable advice, techniques and tips. Using applied solutions to everyday issues, Dowling aims to educate and encourage. Covering all aspects of the modeling industry with a wealth of experience, the lecture describes all modeling types, what they require, and how to find your sector.

Aiming to give models a professional edge and mentality, a greater understanding of the modeling industry, technical knowledge, practical solutions and a more positive, productive and healthier outlook.
